The Marquette University Golden Eagles suffered a narrow defeat in a thrilling match against the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders on Saturday. The final scoreline read Raiders 5, Golden Eagles 4 at the Ponds of Brookfield.
Despite having more shots on goal, with a total of 60 against the Raiders’ 53, the Golden Eagles couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities. Both teams struggled with their powerplay, failing to convert any of their six chances.
In the goaltending department, the Raiders’ Cody Kaas faced a barrage of 60 shots, making an impressive 56 saves. On the other end, the Golden Eagles’ Daniel Leger was kept busy with 53 shots, managing to save 48.
Raiders’ #67 Joseph Grobarek was the star of the show, netting a hat trick. For the Golden Eagles, #14 Daniel Sendobry put up a valiant fight, scoring two goals.
The Golden Eagles will be looking to bounce back in their next game at home against Lewis University. The puck drops at 10:15 am EST on Friday, February 6 at the Fond du Lac Blue Line. The team will be hoping for a strong home support to cheer them on to victory.
