The Marquette University Golden Eagles hockey team kicked off their season with an impressive 4-1 victory over the Roosevelt University Lakers this past Saturday at The Edge Ice Arena in Illinois. The Golden Eagles dominated the game, outshooting the Lakers 39 to 19 and showcasing their offensive prowess on the powerplay.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, with #9 Chase Breslin leading the charge with two goals in the game. The team’s powerplay was firing on all cylinders, going 3 for 7 and capitalizing on their opportunities to put the pressure on the Lakers.

In net, Golden Eagles goalie Jake Buttice stood tall, making 18 saves on 19 shots to secure the win for his team. On the other side, Lakers goalie Tim Darche faced a barrage of shots from the Golden Eagles, stopping 26 of the 29 shots he faced.

The Lakers managed to get one goal past Buttice, courtesy of #43 Josh Werner, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the offensive onslaught of the Golden Eagles.

Overall, it was a strong start to the season for the Marquette University Golden Eagles, as they look to build on this victory and continue their winning ways in the ACHA. Congratulations to the team on a well-deserved win, and best of luck in the rest of the season! #GoGoldenEagles 🏒🦅
