The Marquette University Golden Eagles faced a tough matchup against the Concordia University of Wisconsin Falcons last Friday at the Ponds of Brookfield. Unfortunately, the game ended with a final score of 7-1 in favor of the Falcons.
The Falcons came out strong, outshooting the Golden Eagles with an impressive 52 shots on goal compared to Marquette’s 25 shots. Their powerplay was also on fire, converting on 3 out of 10 opportunities, while the Golden Eagles managed to score on 1 out of 4 powerplay chances.
In the net, the Falcons’ goalie, Austin Bartell, faced 25 shots and made 24 saves, while Marquette’s Daniel Leger faced a whopping 52 shots and made 45 saves to keep the Golden Eagles in the game.
Despite the tough loss, there were some standout performances on both sides. Falcons’ #7 Thomas Cassel netted two goals for his team, while Marquette’s #28 Sawyer Lichtensteiger managed to score the lone goal for the Golden Eagles.
While the outcome may not have been what the Golden Eagles had hoped for, it’s important to learn from this game and come back stronger in the next matchup. Every game is an opportunity to improve and grow as a team, and the Marquette University Golden Eagles will surely use this experience to fuel their determination moving forward.
