The Marquette University Golden Eagles suffered a tough loss to the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, October 10th at the BodyArmor Ice Rink. The final score was a disappointing 2-6 in favor of the Hawkeyes.
Despite the Golden Eagles’ 20 shots on goal, they were unable to surpass the Hawkeyes’ defense and goalie, Riley Stirrett. Stirrett put on a commanding performance with 18 saves on 20 shots. On the other side of the rink, Golden Eagles’ goalie, Daniel Ledger, faced a barrage of 54 shots, managing to save 48.
The Golden Eagles struggled with their powerplay, failing to capitalize on any of their three opportunities. The Hawkeyes, however, managed to score once out of their three powerplay chances.
Golden Eagles’ #7 Graham Robertson managed to put one past Stirrett, but it was Hawkeyes’ #15 William Behls who stole the show with two goals.
The Golden Eagles will have a chance to redeem themselves in their next game against the Hawkeyes. The rematch is set for Sunday, October 11th at the BodyArmor Ice Rink. The Golden Eagles will undoubtedly be looking to even the score and secure a win.
