MU DII vs. UW-Madison / MU DIII vs. SIUE

October 30th, 2019

Friday night saw a record crowd at the Ponds of Brookfield for the annual Halloween game vs. in state rival UW-Madison.

History decided to take a back seat this weekend as the away team took both wins.

Friday night saw an incredibly tight battle that came down to the final minute of the game.  With the game tied 3-3, Marquette took a penalty with 1:32 remaining in the game.  Madison took full advantage and banged home the game winning goal with :23 seconds left in the game.  Final from the Ponds: Marquette 3 UW-Madison 4

Saturday's game was played in Madison and while there was a slight decrease in attendace, there was an increase in goals scored.   After a 4 goal second period, Marquette took a 6-2 lead into the third and final period.   Madison was not about to lay over and call it quits.  Madison scored three goals before the 8:00 minute mark to make it a one goal game.  Marqeuette was able to hold on and with 1:10 left in the game notched the deciding empty net goal.

Marquette DIII played their second set of conference games of the year.  After sweeping Wheaton earlier in the season, MU sat atop the conference with 4 points out of 4 possible.  They added to that total this weekend after a weekend sweep of SIUE at the Ponds of Brookfield.

Friday night saw scoring early and often as the MU gents put in 12 goals to finish game one 12-2.

Saturday saw a much different start and it was evident that MU was in for a game.  The first period ended 3-3 and the squad had to figure out what needed to be done to get back to Fridays success.   It didn't take long though and the game ended 10-5.  MU now has all 8 possible points in conference play.
