Despite a valiant effort, the Marquette University Golden Eagles were narrowly defeated by the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders in a high-octane game that ended 5-4 in favor of the Raiders. The game was held at the Ponds of Brookfield on January 29th, 2026.
In a game that saw a total of 113 shots, the Golden Eagles outshot the Raiders 60-53. However, the Raiders showed superior efficiency in front of the goal, converting five of their attempts compared to the Golden Eagles’ four.
Both teams struggled on the powerplay as neither could capitalize on their six opportunities. This was a testament to the solid defensive play and excellent goaltending displayed by both teams.
Standing between the pipes, Cody Kaas of the Raiders and Daniel Leger of the Golden Eagles put up commendable performances. Kaas faced a barrage of 60 shots, saving 56 of them. On the other end, Leger dealt with 53 shots, managing to keep out 48.
The Raiders’ Joseph Grobarek had an outstanding night, scoring a hat trick that proved pivotal in the final outcome. For the Golden Eagles, Daniel Sendobry found the back of the net twice, but his efforts were not enough to secure a win for his team.
The Golden Eagles will be looking to bounce back from this defeat in their next game. They will be hosting Lewis University on Friday, February 6th at the Fond du Lac Blue Line. It promises to be another thrilling encounter as the Golden Eagles aim to return to winning ways.
