The Marquette University Golden Eagles put on a show for the home crowd at The Ponds of Brookfield on Sunday, outshooting the Aurora University Spartans 48-30 in an 8-2 demolition.

The Golden Eagles were relentless from the start, peppering the Spartan’s goalie, Jake Olson, with 48 shots. Olson managed to save 40, but the relentless Marquette offense proved too much for him to handle. On the other end, Golden Eagles’ goalie Isaac Nguyen gave a solid performance, saving 28 out of 30 shots.

While both teams struggled on powerplays, with the Spartans going 0/3 and the Golden Eagles 0/2, the Golden Eagles still managed to dominate the game. This was largely due to the outstanding play of Nico Venier, who racked up an impressive four assists.

The Spartans did manage to get on the scoreboard, thanks to a goal from Liam Charlebois, but it was not enough to counter the Golden Eagles’ onslaught.

The Golden Eagles will look to carry this momentum into their next game, a home fixture against DePaul University on Friday, October 16 at The Ponds of Brookfield. If this game is any indication, the Golden Eagles are a force to be reckoned with this season.
